We also specialize in many Natural Healing techniques for animals.  This includes, essential oils, reiki, colour therapy, magnetic therapy, massage therapy and natural chiropratic.  These therapies can be used on most any species and can be incredibly beneficial to the health and well-being of an animal.  Especially; but not limited to, injured, ill and elderly pets.

Please note that before using "Natural Healing" methods that it is NOT intended to be a substitute for seeking professional veterinary assistance for your animal whenever necessary.  NEVER try to diagnose and treat illness by yourself.  If  you are ever in any doubt about your animals health or welfare, the best thing for you to do is consult your veterinarian - remember that FAILURE to do so could put your animals life at risk.

With modern medicine increasing in complexity, as our scientific knowledge becomes more all-encompassing and our technology becomes more high-powered, we have found more of a need to return to the old remedies for the treatment of diseases, ailments and injuries.  We have found over time that there are many disadvantages to using conventional drugs, ie:  New drugs can be costly to research, develop, test & license and need to be developed more often due to resistance, ineffectiveness or undesirable side effects.

With all this said it is no wonder that we have started to turn to the traditional remedies of old.  Many of these remedies that were dismissed as being "folklore" and "old wives tales" in past times, have now been rediscovered for the health-giving, healing powers that they have to offer and have for centuries been safe and effective.  More and more people are currently enjoying a resurgence to the growing awareness that 'natural medicines' have a great deal to offer.

ESSENTIAL OILS:  Are derived from plants as treatments for a range of illnesses.  Although used for centuries in human ailments this is a fairly new therapy for animals.  Essential oils are obtained by a distillation process and the resulting product is a highly concentrated oil.  Each oil has its own individual properties when used as a therapeutic remedy.  However, essential oils are antiseptic and detoxifying and also help to strengthen the immune system and to regulate the metabolism.  Although not quite fully understood as of yet, as with all natural therapies it seems that it is the energy within the oils that interacts with the patients energy to produce the healing effects.  These may be applied by 3 different ways:  Massage therapy, aromatherapy (diffusion: evaporated and inhaled) or by mouth (oral administration - oils should only be given by mouth by an expert as they are so concentrated that even small amounts can have an extremely toxic effect).

REIKI:   ("RAY-kee") A Japanese word representing Universal Life Energy. It must be understood that the mind exists not only in the brain, but also through-out one's whole body.  (The nervous system extends to every organ and tissue in the body.)  It is also known that the mind even extends outside the body in a subtle energy field 2 - 3 feet thick called the 'aura'.  Therefore our mind and body are very closely linked together almost as being 'one".  With this knowledge, our negative thoughts can collect in various areas through out the body and aura.  The places where negatives collect is what we are looking at through Reiki.  It is the physical organs that exist at these locations that become restricted in their functions.  If the negative is not eliminated - illness results.  Negative thoughts and feeling become lodged in the unconscious mind/body and the patient is not aware of them making it hard to change or eliminate them.   The value of Reiki is that it can work directly in the unconscious parts of the mind/body which contain negative and eliminate them. As Reiki flows through it breaks up and washes away any negative thoughts or feelings lodged in the unconscious mind/body thus allowing a normal healthy flow to resume. As this happens, the unhealthy physical organs and tissues become properly nourished and begin functioning in a balanced healthy way thus replacing illness with health.
Reiki is a non-invasive, completely benign healing technique that is becoming more popular. As western medicine continues to explore alternative methods of healing, Reiki is destined to play an important role as an accepted and valued healing practice.

COLOUR THERAPY:  This may come as a surprise to many people, but colour can be used to treat disease.  Each colour in the spectrum has an effect on the physical and mental well-being and has it own 'energy' that can interact with a patient in a positive way.  For instance, red helps to increase energy levels (in the form of red clothing, it has been shown to increase blood pressure in a person) and will aide in treating circulatory problems and asthma.  Please note it is not necessary for them to 'see' the colour to derive benefit from it. this is due to the 'energy' of the colour that is absorbed by the body that is important.

MAGNETIC THERAPY:  Is a complementary and alternative practice involving the use of static magnetic fields.  Subjecting certain parts of the body to static magnetic fields produced by magnets has beneficial health effects, like pain relief, increased blood flow, and improved healing.  Magnetic therapy was originally considered as 'pseudoscience', primarily due to inconsistent research findings, however, more systematic research has confirmed that strong static magnetic fields from permanent magnets are able to constrict and dilate the walls of capillary blood vessels.  This reduces inflammation and increases blood circulation respectively.  Static magnet therapy has potentially effective applications in relief of pain and swelling after injury and blunt trauma, as well as wound healing.

MASSAGE THERAPY:  This is the most common usage for essential oils.  The appropriate oil is added to an inert 'carrier' to dilute the oil, allowing it to be absorbed through the skin.  A few drops are then massaged into the animal allowing sufficient oil to be absorbed thus giving the desired healing effects of that particular oil.  (It should be noted that essential oils in their undiluted form never be applied directly to the skin as in this concentrated form they can result in rashes and soreness.)  Massage therapy can also be done without the use of oils, but the oils help to assist in the recovery process resulting in a faster healing time.

NATURAL CHIROPRATIC:  Is the manipulative therapy that is used to treat muscular and joint disorders.  Although originally developed as therapy for humans the techniques can be successfully applied to problems such as lameness, joint injuries and soreness or stiffness.  Manual stretching and massage are used to reduce muscle spasm, to ease joint stiffness and to gently put the affected area "back into place".
